2019-2020 Scholarship

Scholarship Background:

On May 5, 2019, Orfila E. Banda went to be with our heavenly Father. Her and Marcelino have supported bilingual ministry for decades. They are strong supporters of not only Jóvenes for Christ, but Lubbock Christian University (LCU) in Lubbock, Texas. The Orfila E. Banda Memorial Scholarship will be endowed at LCU to help a student who has shown leadership in the bilingual ministry. Until the scholarship is fully endowed at the amount of $10,000, Jóvenes for Christ will be providing a $500 annual scholarship in memory of Orfila E. Banda to qualifying students.

What are the Eligibility Requirements?

• Must be enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year at a university, four-year college, two-year college, or a vocational-tech school

• Minimum 2.5 High School or College GPA (to be verified after selection)

• Must have attended Jóvenes for Christ /NHEYC at least one year

What do I turn in?

• Application Form (with Essay Questions)

• Proof of 2019-2020 school enrollment/credit hours (anything that verifies you have registered for a class for the 2019-2020 semester).

Do my scholarship questions have to be typed?

• Yes. Scholarship form provided as a word document should be used to complete the application

When is the application due?

• Applications are due on January 1, 2020.

How is the recipient selected?

• Applicants will be reviewed anonymously by the Jóvenes for Christ Executive Committee. After a recipient is chosen, they will be contacted for further instructions.
